Team India play the hosts and hence they have an upper hand. They didn't click well against New Zealand in the opening match and now they have a daunting task ahead. India is placed in a group that is considered comparatively difficult. The group includes other teams like New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The other group includes South Africa, England, West Indies, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Although India is in a great form and considered as the top favourite side to lift the trophy, T20 cricket provides a lot of uncertainties. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are highly unpredicatble. They can also exploit the sub-continent conditions very well. Same goes with Bangladesh. They are at the top of their form. They defeated the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka to reach the Asia Cup finals.
New Zealand are a strong T20 outfit. The team is lead by Kane Williamson who looks pumped up in the field. Corey Anderson, Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill and other such players make the batting line up strong. They have a good bowling attack too.
Australia would always be the strongest, simply because they always hit the right combination. This time, probably spin would be a concern for them. Otherwise they have a relatively stronger team that can lift the T20 world cup for the first time ever.
South Africa too has a very strong team and could be considered as one of the top three favourites. They have powerful strikers of the ball and also a good pace battery.
West Indies squad suffered a lot of injury issues. A mix of experienced campaigners and some young guns make them underdogs. They give their best in the T20 format and have won the title in 2012. If someone like Chris Gayle gets going, he is literally unstoppable.
England led by Morgan looks a better outfit in the shortest version of the game. A good amalgamation of batsmen and bowlers make them a strong team in the winning contention.
Well, this is all about the teams. But as we keep saying, cricket can come up with surprises. While India have the better chances, other teams would equally fancy their chances in this T20 event. Enjoy the action live on HotStar.
